PiThrow is an annual engineering charity event held annually around the 14th day of March (3.14) and has raised close to fifty thousand dollars for various charities since 1993.
PiThrow traditionally supports the local Engineers Without Borders, University of Saskatchewan Chapter as well as another charity. For three days, anyone has the option to donate $10 for a whipped cream topped lemon pie that gets sent to a person of their choice. When the pie is delivered, it can be redirected for $10, bought outright for $20 to stop the pie from circulating, or delivered to the recipient's face. Students are encouraged to participate if they so choose, but are not required to do so.
This year, Pi Throw has been planned for March 13-15, 2017. The charity being supported this year in addition to Engineers without Borders is the Canadian Cancer Society.
